This timeless and classic soup recipe uses 6 traditional herbs to boost gut health, through improved digestion and appetite. This is a highly versatile recipe, that can be made prepared as a savory version or a sweet dessert!
The herbs used in this recipe are
- Dried longan fruit
- Lotus seeds
- Euryale seeds
- Lily bulb
- Soloman's Seal
- Chinese yam
Direction for the savory version:
1. Rinse dried herbs to remove dirt
2. Blanch short ribs with hot water to remove scum
3. Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring water to boil
4. Turn down heat and simmer for at least 2 hours (or an easy alternative is to use the instant pot and select the "broth" or "slow cook" options)
Direction for the sweet dessert:
1. Rinse dried herbs to remove dirt
2. Soak tremella mushroom in warm water until it soften, and peel into bite-size pieces
3. Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring water to boil
4. Turn down heat and simmer for at least 2 hours
